Loading and hatching procedure

SH 900 Egg Incubator

Quick Facts: Chicken eggs take 21 days to hatch (Incubation Period). From Day 1 to Day 18 they are placed in the setter. After day 18 they are transferred to the hatcher where they remain until day 21 when they hatch. You may load fewer eggs than the maximum weekly output if desired.

We have designed our incubators to hatch on a continuous basis. We recommend that you load your incubator every 9 days in order to make best use of this continuous cycle.

The SH900 Egg Incubator can hatch a maximum of 180 chicks every 9 days after the initial 18 days of setting. This will be a continuous cycle which will yield approximately 180 chicks every 9 days - In an incubation cycle (based on 36 days) there will be 5 batches of 180 eggs = 900 chicks hatching on average every 36 days.

Loading Pocedure :

Total setter loading capacity of SH900 Setter = 360 Eggs
Total hatching capacity of SH900 Hatcher = 200 Eggs

Day 1 – Load 180 eggs in your setter (Half of the setters capacity) - (1st Load)
Day 9 – Load another 180 eggs in your setter (Setter is now full) - (2nd Load)
Day 18
– Transfer 1st Load from the setter to the hatcher (Eggs are now 18 days old) – They will remain in the hatcher until day 21 when they will hatch.
Also on Day 18 - Reload another 180 eggs in the place of your 1st load in the setter (which is now empty due to the fact that eggs were transferred to the hatcher) - (3rd Load)

From now you will have a continuous production of 180 chicks maximum every 9 days.

Day 27 – Transfer 2nd Load from the setter to the hatcher (Eggs from 2nd load are now 18 days old)
Also on Day 27 – Reload another 180 eggs in the place of your 2nd load in the setter (which is now empty due to the fact that eggs were transferred to the hatcher (4th Load)
Day 36
– Transfer 3rd Load from the setter to the hatcher (Eggs from 3rd load are now 18 days old)

Also on Day 36 – Reload another 180 eggs in the place of your 3rd load in the setter (which is now empty due to the fact that eggs were transferred to the hatcher (5th Load)

This will then complete your 36 day hatching period
5 x 180 = 900 day old chicks hatched during the 36 day incubation cycle calculated after the initial 21 days.
Above output is based on a 100% incubation success rate. It is safer to use 80% hatch rates when making calculations or projections.
